I’m a one-person developer, so replies usually take a day or two. Weekends can be slower.
The more detail you can give, the faster it gets fixed. Useful things to include:
MyJournal keeps a local diagnostic log that records what the app was doing, with no journal content in it.
The log never leaves your device unless you choose to send it.
Where is my data stored? On your device only. MyJournal has no accounts, no server and no cloud sync — see the privacy policy.
How do I back up my journals? Use the backup option in Settings to export a backup file, then keep it somewhere safe — iCloud Drive, Files, a computer, wherever you like. Restoring brings back your journals, entries, images and drawings. Because nothing is stored on a server, a backup is the only way to move your journals to a new device or recover them if a device is lost.
I forgot the passphrase for a locked journal. Can you unlock it? No, and this is worth understanding before you lock anything. Locked journals are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. I have no copy of your data, no master key and no back door, so a forgotten passphrase means the journal cannot be opened — by me or by anyone else. Please store it somewhere you trust.
Handwriting search isn’t finding my entry. Search reads handwriting as well as typed text, but it works best on reasonably tidy writing. Very fast or heavily stylised handwriting may not be recognised. Typed text and page titles are always searchable.
Can I use MyJournal on iPhone? MyJournal is designed for iPad and Apple Pencil.
Can I export an entry? Yes — entries can be exported as PDF.
