# Privacy Policy for MyOwnJournal

## Summary

MyOwnJournal is a personal journaling app that runs entirely on your device. We don’t operate any servers, we don’t have an account system, and we don’t collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. Your journal entries, drawings, and photos never leave your device unless you explicitly export them.

## What the app stores

The following are stored only on your device, in the app’s private storage area managed by iOS:

• The text, drawings, photos, and stickers you add to your journals.
• Layout settings, font preferences, and other app preferences.
• Search-index data derived from your handwriting (generated on-device by Apple’s Vision framework — no text is sent anywhere).
• For locked journals: a password-derived encryption key and an AES-GCM-encrypted copy of the journal contents.

## What the app does NOT do

• No analytics. The app contains no analytics, telemetry, tracking, or third-party SDKs.
• No accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, no user identifier.
• No advertising. There are no ads and no ad tracking.
• No servers. There is no cloud component operated by the developer.
• No data sharing. Your data is not shared with the developer or any third party.

## Photos and Face ID

• The app uses Apple’s photo picker to let you add images to journal entries. The picker runs outside the app — the app only receives the image you choose, never your photo library as a whole.
• If you enable a journal lock, the app can store a per-journal encryption key in the iOS Keychain protected by Face ID / Touch ID. The biometric prompt is handled entirely by iOS; the app never receives your biometric data.

## Backups and exports

You can export a journal as a .zip backup file from inside the app. Once exported, the file is yours to manage — anything you do with it (saving to Files, sharing via AirDrop, attaching to email, etc.) is outside the app and outside this policy.

## TestFlight (beta only)

If you are using MyOwnJournal through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple may collect crash reports and basic usage information as described in Apple’s TestFlight Privacy Policy. This is handled by Apple, not by the app developer.

## Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone of any age.

## Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the new version will be posted at the same URL with an updated effective date.
